Grief vs. Traumatic Grief: Where ART Fits

Grief needs room—trauma needs settling

Healthy grief ebbs and flows. Traumatic grief can include intrusive images (accident scenes, ICU moments) that hijack remembrance. We don’t erase love; we help the nervous system settle the shock.

How ART can help

  • Target intrusive scenes tied to the loss

  • Rescript distressing images while preserving meaning and connection

  • Honor rituals and faith that matter to you

What we won’t do

We won’t rush your grief or replace your loved one’s memory with generic “positivity.” Our aim is to soften the traumatic edges so love can be remembered with less panic.

Gentle supports

  • Memory practices that feel sacred to you

  • Nature, movement, and breath to steady the body

  • Community or clergy collaboration if you choose

Do you have stuck images?
